2006 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
12:27 PM - 6/28/2006Past Michigan great’s son commits to WolverinesThe son of Butch Woolfolk, an All-America running back at Michigan a quarter-century ago, intends to follow his father to Ann Arbor. Troy Woolfolk, a 6-foot, 172-pound senior cornerback out of Fort Bend Dulles High in Texas, gave an oral commitment to Michigan last week during the Wolverines’ annual football camp. “It was a surprise to me,” Butch Woolfolk, who lives in Sugar Land, Texas, told the Detroit News for a Saturday story. “In fact, I thought he was going to one of the Texas schools.” Woolfolk is fourth on Michigan’s all-time rushing list, amassing 3,861 yards from 1978 to 1981. The New York Giants drafted him in the first round in 1982; he played seven years in the NFL with the Giants, Houston Oilers and Detroit Lions. Woolfolk said he had no part in his son’s recruitment or commitment to Michigan. “I have mixed feelings,” Woolfolk said. “Of course, I wanted him to go to Michigan, but at the same time, I live in Houston and I want to be able to see all his games. He made the decision all on his own.” 11:46 AM - 6/28/2006 |
